Independent Yorkshire suppliers met with supermarket giant Morrisons on Yorkshire Day. Morrisons opened up their doors to small independent Yorkshire food and drink producers on Yorkshire Day to look for new local produce to bring to their Yorkshire stores and nationwide where popular.
I was lucky enough to get to meet a few of these amazing local suppliers, all pitching their wares to the Supermarket giant! They’ve got great stories to share! Here’s my round up! Can’t wait to see which ones make it into the stores!
We’re so lucky to have all of these amazing local food producers on our doorstep! I love that Morrisons are leading the way with this and championing the small suppliers. #loveourlocals #eatlocal #supportlocal
Yorkshire’s – Proper Nutty
The lovely husband and wife team who make and sell their own artisan Peanut butter at Proper Nutty are from Dewsbury. Their peanut butter was amazing, there’s ‘nowt but nuts’ in it!
They had made Brownies with some of their peanut butter for sampling and they were some of the best Brownies I have ever tasted, I have a recipe card for them which I can’t wait to try!
Yorkshire’s – Hesper Farm SKyr Yoghurt
I learnt that SKyr is not a brand but a type of Icelandic-Style Yogurt, which is naturally fat free and we make it right here in Yorkshire at Hesper Farm!
The lovely Hesper Farm chap I met is a dairy farmer by day and makes his own in Yorkshire. They currently stock it in Fodder in Harrogate and after sampling their blueberry variety I shall be hot-footing it down there to pick some up! It was gorgeous!
Yorkshire’s – Sloemotion Gin
I met these fab Sloemotion chaps at Deer Shed Festival when I was able to sample some of their fine gin! Here they were promoting their Autumn and Winter collection. Their bottles are SO pretty! Can’t wait to feature more from them on the blog soon! I feel a giveaway coming on…!

These natural smoothies from Yorlife Kefir are a fermented milk drink. Sounds like it wouldn’t taste that great, but actually it tastes really good. I tried the passion fruit and mango one and it was lovely. It’s a sort of probiotic milk drink produced here in Yorkshire.
This chap said he puts it on his little one’s Weetabix for breakfast. Sounds like a great idea to me. It was super tasty and it’s good for you!
