Harrogate Papa and I had a lovely little date night at The Ivy, Harrogate to check out their 1917 Two‑Course Menu. Priced at £19.17 as a nod to the year The Ivy first opened in London, which means it’s a proper little treat without feeling too indulgent!

The 1917 menu runs all day, every day, until 28th February (except Valentine’s Day!). It’s great if you fancy a catch-up lunch, a cosy dinner, or just a little treat for yourself.
For Starters
Harrogate Papa went in with the Robata Grilled Chicken Skewers served with bang bang peanut sauce, sesame, coconut, lime and coriander – a highlight of the meal.

I started with the Tamarind Beetroot and Endive Salad (red chicory, plant-based cream, kohlrabi, cranberries, candied pecans with an apple cider dressing) – divinely delish and light, so I could make sure there was space for the all important pudding!

For Mains
I was torn between the Sweet Potato & Spinach Curry and the Wild Mushroom & Truffle Linguine, and was thrilled my ultimate choice of the curry – which was the best combination of all the veg, and all the spice!

While Harrogate Papa thoroughly enjoyed the The Ivy Classic Shepherd’s Pie with Cheddar mash, rosemary and red wine sauce to pour.

And desserts
If there’s cheese on a desserts menu that’s Harrogate Papa’s number one choice, so the Barber’s Mature Cheddar was an easy pick for him.

I went all out for the Flambéed Crème Brulée a silky vanilla custard with a golden caramelised sugar crust. Both were the perfect end to a delightful dinner.

This 1917 menu gives you the perfect excuse to enjoy a proper meal out, without feeling like you need a special occasion. It’s a great way to treat yourself on a chilly winter evening, I’m already thinking I need to have a return visit before it’s too late!
