Five Fab Food Finds in Leeds with Jet2

Whether it’s a street food sensation, tapas with the Mamas or date-night-dinner Leeds has some great little indies ready for you to discover! Take a look at where I uncovered as some of the best places to eat in Leeds, when taking the walking food tour last week, thanks to Jet2 and Jet2Holidays.

All the venues we visited are also places Jet2 fly to from Leeds! LOVE that connection!

First stop, Berlin!

Who knew Berlin was famous for the Doner kebab!? Not me! I’ve always steered away from a kebab, perceiving it to be a late night, beer fuelled, staple that I could live without! Well, let me tell you, not at award winning I Am Doner, it’s not! I’m seriously heading back here next time I’m in the city with the kids for a bite-on-the-go! It’s a much tastier treat than a TESCO meal deal. I had the vegan option, and I’m already looking forward to one again soon!

Find them at: I Am Doner, 14a Infirmary St, Leeds LS1 2JP

Touching down for Tapas

I LOVE tapas, and the ElGato Negro Tapas had all the Spanish vibes and it did not disappoint! Tipsy Tapas turned my head for a perfect pre-theatre treat (three dishes and bottomless drinks from £35). The aged Manchego was amazing! I’m looking forward to heading back here with the Mamas for the casual laid back vibes and the delicious bite-sized treats!

Grazing plates in Greece

The third stop on our whistle stop tour of Jet2 destinations was gorgeous Greece, at the Tavernaki Bistro. This unassuming hidden gem was incredibly authentic, the décor was so Mediterranean and the food was completely traditional relaxed charm. This would be perfect lunch date territory! My go-to dish in here would be the Feta Sagnaki, Feta cheese folded with filo pastry, topped with honey, cinnamon, and sesame seeds – incredible!

Incredible Italy

My favourite stop on the tour was definitely Italy‘s Stuzzi, we’re lucky enough to have the OG Stuzzi here in Harrogate but there’s a much more vibrant vibe to their Leeds site! We only enjoyed one delicious delight here, but that was more than enough and I can’t stop thinking about it! It was the arancino, traditionally eaten by hand, in-between drinks to “keep ones self going”. This Sicilian street food staple, was simply everything; a deep fried pea & mint risotto ball – with a Taleggio melting buttered centre. I mean…! Planning on heading back here soon for a dinner date asap! It’s a great place to eat in Leeds.

Final Call, Turkey

The final stop on our walking food tour was Turkey, which we discovered in…Leeds market of all places! Mr Mackerel is a street food sensation with Jay Raynor even classing it as “probably the best £5 you can spend on lunch anywhere in Leeds right now.” Did you know mackerel was so popular in Turkey? Me neither!  Of course we were served their speciality a mackerel fillet, grilled as you watch, piled with salad into a sandwich, a perfectly simple delight!
