Here are ten lovely things you can do with your pre-schooler to enjoy playing in the warm weather. We enjoyed them all at our lovely Playgroup this morning!
The Small Boy and I are just home from our last ever time at Playgroup. I’ve spent almost six years of my life, for an hour and half a week, enjoying the setting with my children. I’m so fortunate to be able to have enjoyed such a welcoming, friendly, amazingly well run Playgroup, for £2 a week. There’s more about it over on my previous blog post In Homage to our Playgroup.
I may have cried today when it was time to leave, feeling sad for robbing my little boy of the memories we could be making together by choosing to send him to pre-school an extra morning a week come September. In my heart I know it’s the right thing for him to do, he desperately needs to learn some independence before starting school next year and the lovely pre-school setting he attends I know will help him do this brilliantly.
On the plus side, I will be able to enjoy a cup of tea on my own and continue blogging and explore new ways back to earning an income after over nine years without!
In the meantime here are some of the lovely things we did at Playgroup today to inspire you to try a few of them over the summer, or over the next few days as the weather looks set to hot up!
1.) We made sunshine crowns out of card, tissue paper and stuck on smiley sunshines with glue.
2.) We made our own Boaty Mc Boatface out of a cleaning sponge, a straw and some foam pieces (but you could use paper).
3.) Then we floated him on water (or the paddling pool would do just fine).
4.) We washed up the tea set! This was endless fun!
5.) We chalked on the pavement!
6.) We blew bubbles from a mixture of paint, water and fairy liquid and then placed a piece of paper on the top of the bubbles to make a bubble picture.
7.) We made pretend ice creams from cardboard cones and scrunched up tissue paper.
8.) We played in the water with funnels and watering cans.
9.) We blew bubbles.
10.) We even spotted some dinosaurs that were hiding in the courtyard.
We did all this in one day, and played pass the parcel and had a party lunch! I told you it was a brilliant playgroup!
Are you going to give any of them a go? If not the paddling pool is always a winner round ours!
