Gah! Half term is almost here, it’s been the shortest term EVER! If you’re looking out at the drizzle, frost and snow and wondering how you’re going to keep the Smalls entertained for the week here are a few ideas…
Milkshake at the Royal Hall – Wednesday 14th February

The Jungle Book at the Royal Hall – Thursday 15th February
This looks like a great touring show, the Small Boy might be a little tiny to go as it recommends age 6+ but I’m sure the Big Girls would love it. You can book online.
Royal Armouries Museum – Tuesday 13th February till Wednesday 21st Feb
At the Royal Armouries next week they will be exploring the lives of Warrior Women an exhibition packed with performances and displays. It opens from 10am to 5pm everyday.
Lightwater Valley Theme Park – Wednesday 14th Feb to Sunday 18th February
Fab Feb Family Fun will return to with a selection of rides and giant indoor inflatables for children and adults alike to run wild on! Tickets are just £6.75 per person as the full theme park is not open and tickets must be booked in advance.
JORVIK Viking Centre – 12th to 18th February
York will see the return of the annual JORVIK Viking Festival at with events running throughout the week.
Recognised as the largest event of its kind in Europe, the annual JORVIK Viking Festival is a city-wide celebration of York’s rich Norse heritage.
Visit York in February 2018 for a week-long commemoration of a seminal moment in British history, the arrival and conquest of England by the Great Viking Army in AD 866.
With an exciting programme of events that explore the impact of the Viking invasion on Anglo-Saxon England, including living history encampments, walks, talks, tours and of course, dramatic combat performances, there is something for everyone at JORVIK Viking Festival.
RHS Harlow Carr – Mud and Machines 10th – 18th February
Mud, mud, glorious mud, there’s nothing quite like it for…keeping the kids entertained. Families are being encouraged to pull on their wellies, grab the waterproofs and enjoy a week of mud and machines at RHS Garden Harlow Carr.
Kids can get mucky with muddy craft activities on Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 10.30am–3.30pm and hear tales from the Garden Detectives from 10.30am–3.30pm on Tuesdays.
On Thursday 15 February, why not take part in a Worm Day? Learn how to entice worms from underground with worm charmers and make your own wormery from 11am–3pm.
On Friday, make a marvellous mud pie in the Great British Mud Pie Off from 10.30am–3pm. Prizes for the winning plates will be announced at 3pm.
Needle Point Sewing Club – 12th to 16th Februray
There are all sorts of things to make this half term at the Needle Point Sewing club, from cushions, to blankets to messenger bags. Suitable for age 7+
Harrogate Gymnastics Open Gym – Monday 12th February and Friday 16th February
Open Gym will be running on the following days and times through the February Half Term period.
Monday 12th February – 1:30pm aged 5-9 and 2:30pm aged 10+
Friday 16th February – 11:30am – aged 5-9
Each child under 11 must be accompanied by a parent or carer who will help them explore the equipment.
Cinema
Both Early Man and Coco are set to be out at the local cinemas for half term too. Check their website for times and dates.
