What’s On at February Half Term around Harrogate

Yikes, it’s half term in Harrogate next week! I’m never really a fan of February half term as trying to find indoor activities for three Small People tends to end up expensive and you can’t depend on the weather for the outdoor activities either!

So I’ve done a bit of planning and here are some of the things on our list!

1.) Lightwater Valley Fab Feb Fun

The Lightwater Valley theme park is opening a limited number of rides on the Monday and Tuesday (20/21st Feb). It’s open 10.30am – 3.30pm and entrance is just £6 per person.

Billed as ‘ideal for 8’s and under’ there’s set to be heaps to do both indoors and outdoors with a selection of rides and giant indoor inflatables to run wild and let loose on!

The Angry Birds Activity Park and Angry Birds Space will be open along with the Lightwater Falconry Centre with over 50 amazing raptors, mammals and reptiles. You’ll also find Riggmoor Mobile Farm with lots of cute and cuddly animals for you to pet.

Rides and activities open at Fab Feb Family Fun:*

Skyrider • Eagles’ Creek Farm •Carousel • Eagles’ Claw • Trauma Tower • Ladybug • Space Pirates • Noah’s Ark • Human Cannonball • Angry Birds Activity Park • Angry Birds Space • Indoor Soft Play • Bouncy Castles • Pirate Assault Course • Giant Slide • Pillow Bash • Animal Feeding • Lightwater Falconry Centre • Reptile Handling • Petting Farm • Shops • Cafes

You need to book tickets in advance online. You can’t pay on the day!

2.) Harrogate Gymnastics Club drop in

Harrogate Gymnastics Club are holding an ‘Open Gym’sessions  where the Small People can have free range in the gym and try out any of the gym equipment. Children under 12 must be accompanied by an adult. It’s £5 per child and sessions are;

Monday 20th February: 3.15 – 4.15pm for aged 10+

Friday 24th February: 10.45 – 11.45am for 5 – 9 year olds and 12 o clock – 1pm for 10+ years

3.) Bargain Cinema Visit

Lego Batman Movie is high on everyone’s list (except mine 😬) it’s on at the Odeon in Harrogate at a reasonable price of £20 for one adult and three children.

The Odeon are also showing Moana and Trolls at their ‘kids’ slot times of 10am and 10.30am most weekday mornings for a bargain price of £2.50 a ticket.

4.) RHS Garden Harlow Carr

There is a ‘Whatever the Weather‘ theme to February half term at RHS Garden Harlow Carr this year.

There are crafts by the Royal Meteorological Society including; make a rainbow windsock so you can test if it’s calm and clear or blowing a gale. Create your own weather chart so you can keep track of the weekly forecast. Plus a 1pm daily rain gauge demonstration and chance to learn how to make your own rain gauge at home. There’s stormy story telling at 11am, 1pm and 3pm on Tuesday 21st and a daily garden trail!

5. Goose

If you’ve not been to Goose yet than you soon will! As their website says “Part café, part playroom, Goose is the first place in Harrogate that’s as much for parents as it is for children.”

The cafe food is fab, all handmade on site and the play for the children is lovely, with a mix of toys and games to play with at tables to a dedicated area for arts and crafts. It’s £3 to go in or £6 to go in and join in the crafts.

I’m hoping it will keep all mine entertained but will report back on that with their mixed ages!

So, get the coffee stocked up, and, more importantly obviously, the wine! February half term’s main saving grace is that it is, after all, only one week! Bring it on! Hope that’s given you some ideas!

Please let me know what you’re up to in the comments below or on Facebook, I’d love to know what you’ve got planned!
